Health, but make it conversational 💡
Wait whattttt
Anna and Phoebe here 👋 you might know us as hosts of your favourite friendly neighbourhood pod, Cheeky Run Club.
If you don’t know us, well you will soon, because we’re about to change the way women talk about health.
A little story for you all:
We started Cheeky because we 🩷 running and we wanted to create content that helped others feel the same way.
To our surprise, we quickly found a niche of >15,000 incredibly loyal and engaged women across Australia and beyond.
Now it’s time to tell you a secret:
A lot of our listeners don’t even like running.
What!!!! I hear you say.
Why would you listen to a running podcast if you don’t run?
Well we’ll tell you why (and we know because we asked).
It’s because health content for women… kinda sucks.
We think there’s a few reasons for this:
1. No one knows who to trust.
The wellness industry has been so bastardised and commodified that almost everything we see online we all treat with a high degree of scepticism. It’s true that it’s never been harder to know who to trust and who is being paid to say what.
It is a sign of the times that we are both super interested in/curious about our health and yet don’t have anywhere to consume the kind of health content we’re interested in. And don’t get us started on AI health content 💀
2. Health content doesn’t take women seriously.
Have you ever noticed how health content directed at men is focused on something really different than health content directed at women? Take the Huberman lab for example - women don’t talk about our health like that. Content for us focuses on being unwell, in pain or pregnant.
Of course there is a need for this, but there is also a biggg need for exploring what it takes to actually feel pretty good, perform at your best, or just learn about what’s going on in that bod of yours.
3. We’re not experts, just like you.
We’re not saying we have the answers because we absolutely don’t. We’ll consult with experts, share our fact checking and the research we do so you can learn more for yourself, but we’re not experts and that’s kind of the point: we’re on the journey and we’re sharing what we’re learning, the frustrations, the wins.
The biggest feedback we get for why people love cheeky? We sound like normal people. We sound just like your friends - just like you. And that’s because we are.
Soooo what are we doing on substack?
Well! Based on the feedback from our listeners, we knew there was a serious gap for quality and engaging health content directed at women, and we truly believe we were born to fill this gap.
However, we also work full time and we don’t have time to do 2 x podcasts per week 🤠 so we went looking for a middle ground.
To add to this, we have been searching for a way to better engage with our community and allow our community to engage with each other. We didn’t want to paywall it and we love the idea of getting off socials. Our Strava group is legendary but a lot of our listeners aren’t even on Strava.
Enter: Substack.
So what kind of content will we be sharing?
We have sooo many ideas and will treat our first ~20 blogs and early readers as a kind of experiment to see what lands and what doesn’t. You can expect:
📰 episode recaps where we can unpack the topic of that week
🛼 product reviews/recs because we know u all love them - where we trial & review products in the health & wellness space so you don’t have to
💡 blogs where we overshare our most honest insights and lessons, from how much money we’re spending on our own health to what our wearables data says about our personalities
💬 sharing is caring where you write in with your health confessions, recs or questions and we can all have a conversation about it
🌎 tidbits and fun facts from what is going on in the health & wellness world
+ Please let us know what you think and what you’d love to see! We’re building this with you.
So join us, friends, in this space for health-curious gals, as we wade through the proverbial quagmire that is modern day wellness advice 🗺️

We’re tentatively committing to an email delivered in your inbox every Wednesday 💪 first one this week is a personal one titled “How to ignore your body” and it’s probably really good.
Hoo roo xx
